I own a surface pro 3 running on OS Windows 10.
It's on version: 1703 (Os Build 15063.540).
Recently my Type Cover Keyboard stopped working. I then looked at the 'Device Manager' to check the driver and saw that the Type Cover Driver is missing. This is probably the reason why SP3 does not recognize the keyboard. I tried looking for a downloadable driver for this but i could not find one. I also tried following every alternative solutions that I can see from the internet and nothing seems to have worked for me. I even came across a forum in microsoft, wherein someone reported a similar issue but we are all waiting for an answer from Microsoft. Then I saw this Forum, maybe one of you guys might have encountered the same problem and is able to find a working solution that I can try.

I have tried downloading drivers from the Windows website. I have tried booting with the power+volume up AND IT WORKS IN THAT UEFI MENU but doesn't work after exiting. I have manually updated the HID Keyboard Device to both the 'Surface Type Cover Filter Device' and the 'Surface Touch Cover Filter Device' and neither worked. I'm out of ideas. Remove the driver and click 'uninstall driver software' if it gives you the option (if not, don't worry about it). Then be sure to reboot, check for updates, and run all of them. There was recently a firmware update that caused a some of the type cover drivers to disappear. Now you can download the cumulative drivers and firmware update for the Microsoft Surface Pro 6 in case you need it. This download can be handy when you need to do a clean install or troubleshoot driver problems on your Surface Pro 6.
